Steve’s lake house was perfect for our girls getaway weekend! The house had all we would ever need and more. They left a bottle of wine and two wine tastings for us too! The view from the house was beautiful! Highly recommend this listing! Michelle

Outstanding place with a killer view of the sunset! Has a great yard for campfires and a beautiful deck out to the lake. Would highly recommend, Steve and Tia were amazing hosts and were so accomodating, even gave us a great bottle of wine and a free local tasting!! The inside of the house seemed much bigger than pictured and all the amenities you could need are provided. Will definitely go back! 🙂 Kate

Just as advertised. A beautiful view of the lake right outside your back door. We enjoyed a night around the fire pit and a day on the deck. Close to several wineries and minutes from town. Even left us a bottle of wine. Justina

Great stay! The pictures don’t do the view justice. Beautiful lakefront view and a quick 15 minute drive into town. Steve was a responsive host – highly recommend this property.

–Experience 2300 Degrees
Experience one of the most popular events at the Corning Museum of Glass. At 2300 Degrees you’ll be impressed with hot glass shows, live music, local wineries and brewery tastings, meet & greets with the artists, and more! This event is held on the third Thursday of each month, November through March, click here for more details.

-THE SENECA LAKE REGION is home to over 100 wineries and breweries, and the winter happens to be one of the best times to get the complete tasting experience. With reduced traffic during the colder months, don’t be surprised if the person pouring your samples is the owner and winemaker. Take advantage of their extra attention by asking them about their favorite wines and places to visit. You’re sure to get some terrific local recommendations.

Catharine Creek

This tributary of Seneca Lake empties into Seneca Lake through Watkins Glen and is best known for the run of wild rainbow trout it sees every year. Anglers target these spawn runs in the spring, but also return in the fall for brown trout and Atlantic salmon.

Explore the Seneca Lake Wine Trail

A trip to the Finger Lakes isn’t complete without visiting at least one of the region’s wineries! That’s easy for guests staying near Seneca Lake, home to the largest of the area’s wine trails. In total, it includes 35 wineries, one distillery, two cider producers, two breweries, and a meadery. This region is most well-known for producing some of the best Rieslings in the world, and they have the awards to show for it! If you want to combine stunning views with a day spent on the Seneca Lake Wine Trail, head down Route 14S. It’s considered one of the most scenic drives in the Finger Lakes and is also right in the midst of the trial. Plus, it’ll take you to Watkins Glen State Park, another one of our favorite parks near Seneca Lake. Driving down this route is one of our favorite things to do in the Finger Lakes in the fall!

Top 6 Stylist Wedding Venues in the Fingerlakes

6 – Abandon Brewery – Brewery

Thinking about a brewery barn style venue? This is the one. And it’s not in Buffalo or Syracuse. Give up? It’s a 1-hour drive from Rochester, NY. With serene lake views on the horizon and a rustic, bucolic architectural design, it has a magical feel you just can’t get anywhere else. And unlike other breweries, an outdoor reception isn’t your only option. The original 1800’s reconditioned Taproom is the epitome of a rustic wedding venue.

5 – Wagner Vineyards – Winery

With Seneca Lake views that go for miles and lush vineyards all around, it’s not hard to see why the open outdoor venue is one of the most spectacular ceremony spots in the region. And they’ll help you plan every detail — the menu, the vendors, and even the decorating. Rick Bacmanski has captured many beautiful weddings at this venue.

4 – Geneva on the Lake – French style

Picture this: instead of walking down an aisle envision you and your fiancé strolling through the manicured gardens of the estate. Your guests will feel like they’ve been transported back in time as they enter this affluent 17th-century villa (that could be a stand-in for Villa Lancellotti in Frascati, Italy). But the wow-worthy moments will have just begun. The leisurely European gardens provide a picturesque ceremony setting, while the gilded style interiors can host a regal affair for up to 45 seated guests and up to 150 guests on the south lawn pavilion in the summer months

3 – Crispin Hill – Barn

Offering a fully restored historic barn and stables with panoramic views of Keuka Lake, Crispin Hill is an exceptionally stylish venue for your country barn wedding. The barns hark back to another era, and in their rural surroundings, one can forget Crispin Hill’s close proximity to Rochester, NY. Whether elegant, casual, intimate or something in between, you will be excited by the variety of options this venue provides.

2- The Cracker Factory – Industrial Warehouse

The Cracker Factory was a straight-razor factory converted into the Cracker Factory. This 3-story time-warped, weathered, warehouse with exposed brick and white wood trusses makes your simple wedding style elegant. The 5,000 sq. feet of space accommodates up to 340 guests on the 2nd floor with plenty of room for entertainment and caterers. The other floors house Miles & May furniture works and letterpress/artist studios run by the nonprofit arts organization 3 Stories.

1 – Bristol Harbor Lodge and Resort

This exceptional four-season Bristol Harbor Lodge and Resort nestled on top of a pristine mountain lake vacation setting is regarded as one of the Finger Lakes top wedding destinations. Bristol Harbor Lodge began as a golf course and is now owned and operated with pride by the Cook Family. Their traditional warm hospitality has been nurturing and embracing the spirit of spending quality time with friends and family for years. If that isn’t enough, you can bet your engagement ring on the beautiful views, manicured Robert Trent Jones Golf Course, and the Finger Lakes farm-to-table cuisine.

Geneva, NY

Geneva is the “Lake Trout Capital of the World” and host to the National Lake Trout Derby every year over Memorial Day weekend. Cast off the end of the pier at the Waterfront Park in downtown or find somewhere a little more secluded in Seneca Lake State Park.

Book Passage on a Seneca Lake Boat Tour

Whether you’re celebrating a special occasion or want to spend time on the water without the hassle of renting a vessel, a Seneca Lake boat tour is the perfect addition to your itinerary. Schooner Excursions offers small private and public charters, as well as wine tour packages and eco-tours. Captain Bill’s Seneca Lake Cruises is a more refined experience. Their 270-passenger elegant vessel, the Seneca Legacy, offers wonderful dinner cruises during the summer season. They also have the Stroller IV, a more traditional ship, aboard which a traditional sightseeing cruise takes place. A boat tour with your loved one is definitely one of our picks for one of the most romantic things to do in the Finger Lakes.

Spend the Day in Watkins Glen

Racing fans should not miss the chance to visit the Watkins Glen International (or as locals know it, The Glen). It was the host of the Formula One United States Grand Prix for 20 years, so there are two decades of racing history on the grounds! Today, it’s considered Mecca of North American road racing, with races (and even concerts) still frequently held at the arena.
